Hello!

I'm Kerynn (pronounced like Corinne or 'kur-inn')  and I was born in 1998 and raised in Sacramento, California. I and am married to my husband, Galen, who I share a 2 beautiful children with.

I became a doula in 2019, and have served over 50 families in the Sacramento area since I've begun this work. I am a Certified Birth Doula (CD), Certified  Postpartum Doula (CPD), Certified Childbirh Educator (CBE), Lactation Consultant Assistant (LCA), and Certified Breastfeeding Counselor (CLC). I recieved most of my education through International Doula Institute (IDI) as well as through American River College. Though I've spent much time on my education, my experience in the birth room and in the homes of exhausted new parents has been the greatest teacher in supporting families as a doula.

About Me

After the pregnancy and birth of my son, Cayden, I became very passionate about women's health issues, especially in regard to all things pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. My first birth experience left me reeling, and I realized how important and transformative this time of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum was for new mothers. I began seeing the gaps in how our society cares for it's mothers, and how the idea of "it takes a village" is nearly impossible for many people. After discovering the world of holistic birth, I knew I wanted to be a part of it. Though I was pursuing a degree in Nursing, I found my calling to the childbirth profession, and I decided to do a complete 180. I switched my goal from RN to Licensed Midwife.

Becoming a Certified Doula was the first step in my long-term goal of becoming a midwife and doing what I am passionate about. However, once I began working as a doula, I fell in love with the supportive side of birth and postpartum. I found that working directly in the field with new parents is exactly where I wanted to be, and I hope to continue working as a doula long into the future!

My passion for childbirth, as well as my overall love of learning, motivates me to keep up with all of the latest information and studies about birth. My favorite resources are Spinning Babies and Evidence Based Birth. Education also has a very special place in my heart and I thrive on spreading awareness, teaching and supporting through life's many seasons. I love incorporating what I've learned through herbalism, nutrition, Ayurveda, and other holistic practices into my life, which influence my doula practice and outlook on caring for mothers and birthing people as well.

In my downtime, love to read, exercise, spend time out and about with friends, and of course be with my family. Though I would consider myself a bubbly introvert, interacting with people on a deeper level and sharing a connection with others is very important to me. These skills transfer in my work as a doula, as establishing interpersonal connection and trust with a client is one of the most important skills. I truly believe everyone is deserving of compassionate care and support- no matter your background, gender, color, religion, etc. I stand in solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community and believe Black Lives Matter.

If you've read all this I appreciate that you took some time to get to know me! I am very much looking forward to meeting you and am excited at the possiblity of working with your family!

Warmly,

Kerynn
